A soft, sweet, melt-in-your-mouth candy that’s perfect for weddings, baby showers, holidays, and special celebrations. These colorful homemade mints are simple to prepare, require no baking, and add a charming touch to any dessert table.
4 ounces (113 g) full-fat cream cheese, softened
2 tablespoons (28 g) unsalted butter, softened
4 to 4½ cups (480–540 g) powdered sugar, sifted
½ teaspoon peppermint extract (or other extract of choice)
Gel food coloring (optional)
¼ cup (30 g) cornstarch or additional powdered sugar for dusting
In a large bowl, beat softened cream cheese and butter together until smooth and creamy.
Mix in peppermint extract until fully combined.
Gradually add 4 cups (480 g) powdered sugar, mixing until a soft dough forms. Add up to ½ cup (60 g) more if needed to reduce stickiness.
Divide dough and knead in gel food coloring as desired.
Dust hands with cornstarch or powdered sugar and roll dough into small balls. Press with a fork or shape using molds.
Place mints on parchment-lined baking sheets and allow to dry at room temperature for 4–24 hours until a light crust forms.
Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks. Freeze for up to 2 months. Bring to room temperature before serving for the best texture.
